A few weeks ago we met a little boy about a year older than Talmage who has been traveling all the way from Canada to come get casted by Dr. D'Astous (T's surgeon here in SLC) for almost his entire life. He is on cast #20.
Thanks to this family's experience, we have some great tips, including how to take off and replace the shirt that is in-between T's cast and skin as seen in this helpful video that our new friends made. Thanks to their tips T might be able to run through the sprinklers this summer like his friend Dylan and maybe even go swimming!
Talmage will be getting cast #3 on Tuesday so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He will be going under general anesthesia as always. This time he wants a black cast. This time we are also going to cover the cast with neoprene to make it water resistant thanks to some tips and materials from the family of T's new cast buddy.
Glad to see you blogging again! I hope T's next casting goes well. He's such a little doll!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm surprised he has to go under to get his cast on. He will definitely be in our prayers. That's great that you found a friend that can relate to your situation and give you tips. Summer without playing in the water would not be fun.
ReplyDeleteI swear your kiddies have doubled in size. I really hope he gets a swimming safe cast this time!
